Features & Product Details
Eaton carefully designs and constructs each of their differentials using premium components to provide maximum strength and long-lasting functionality. Specifically, the Detroit Truetrac Limited Slip Differential features precision-cut helical gears and pinions housed in a high-strength flanged body that comes completely pre-assembled and ready to drop in your vehicle's rear axle. The TrueTrac also has no wearable parts and required no maintenance other than standard differential fluid changes, keeping you on the road longer so you can explore more. The TrueTrac automatically engages when a wheel experiences traction loss, so you won't have to do a thing when you're out on the trails. During normal driving, the TrueTrac operates like a standard differential to keep your street drive smooth and quiet. Moreover, the TrueTrac Limited Slip Differential is designed to drop right into place of your factory differential; although, a moderate level of mechanical skills is recommended for the installation process. Best of all, this kit is backed by a 1-Year Limited Warranty to help keep your investment protected.

I was re-gearing our 2016 JKU from the lame 3.21 gear ratio to the 4.88 ratio. The Jeep had the TracLoc differential, which was ok, except that it had developed a popping sound when pulling from a dead stop. I took it back to the dealer who tore into it twice looking for broken worm gears. I seriously doubted the worm gear theory and asked them to check the diff. They did and said that everything looked good. I did some research on my own and discovered that the clutch type diffs could possibly need rebuilt after 35-40 thousand miles. Mine had right at 40k, so I decided that instead of spending money rebuilding a diff that would have to possibly be rebuilt again later down the road, I would swap to the Detroit TruTrac while I was in the process of the re-gear. I could not be happier! The sound has disappeared, in fact it is quieter than the TracLoc! Right now, I have about a 1000 miles on the swap and have nothing but praise for the Detroit TruTrac! If you are looking to improve the performance of your Jeep, you cannot go wrong with the TruTrac! And hey, while your in there slap some bigger gears in it. You’ll be glad you did. The little Pentastar 3.6 is a beast with the 4.88’s!
Install was easy enough. I’ve only driven on hardball and a little gravel so far, but it feels good so far. Making turns is quiet and smooth.

Q: 2017 Jeep JKU Automatic and Truetrac on Rear Grendel6023 years ago
My installer purchased this truetrac from you and installed on the rear of my 2017 auto JKU sport. I'm getting random ESP lights that won't turn off unless I cycle power. Is this compatible with auto trans? I see you say yes in other questions but the quadratec website specifically says not compatible. I'm confused.

A: This will 100% work for your application. We have installed dozens of these without issue. Did you recalibrate if you changed gear ratio? Another possibility is if one of the ABS sensors was messed up during install?

A: The Eaton Truetrac won't cause any issues in your Jeep. Going to the 4.88 gear set from stock, you will need a programmer such as the AEV Procal to calibrate the computer to the correct gear set.
